My name is Isaac.

I’m a man of integrity who loves his family. I love art because it allows other people an opportunity to see the creative side of the artists. Art means a sense of freedom!

I am Darlene. For many years, I have seen myself as daughter, mother, sister, best friend, caretaker, and employee.

My daughter is an adult, my family is fine, and my position has been eliminated. When I picked up the camera and started exploring my world, I realized I am free. Photography challenges my mind, my creativity, and my way of seeing things.

My art is an expression of growth, beauty and life.

I am so free!

My name is Johnny.

I live here in South Bend. I take this class because I want people to know me as a person.  I want to have a good life and leave my past behind. Photography is a painful thing to me because of my past. Taking photos for the future makes me happy.

I am ready.

My name is Bianca.

I am 29 years old and from a family of seven; six sisters and one brother. I couldn’t have asked for a better childhood. My mother raised me well. She taught me the importance of manners, respect for others, and independence as an individual. I can say that my life WAS going as planned. I was blessed with a beautiful son in 2006 and then I obtained a degree in my lifelong dream, early childhood education. Three years ago my life unexpectedly changed for the worst when I made the worst mistake of my life by getting a class D felony on my record. I never knew how much disappointment this tragedy would bring to me and my child’s life. This felony has turned my life in a complete 360 degree circle for the worst. I’m unable to obtain employment due to this felony being on my record, even with an associate degree. This breaks my heart because working with children was one of my lifelong dreams. Even though the world judges me and won’t give me a chance to prove myself, I will continue to strive above and beyond the limits set by society. I will reach my ultimate dream which is to be successful.

I am determined.

My name is Latisha.

I am a single mother of 2 beautiful kids. I picked The Darkroom Project because I have to prove myself of completing something that I started. When I look at my work, I get overwhelmed cause I finally finished something that I started. I can do anything in my life and complete it.

I am on my way to the top.

I had photography in high school. That’s why I took the photography class to see what the difference from then and now. I seem to enjoy photography. I didn’t actually know how much but I really enjoy it and am very excited about it.
